Magellan Stem Cells has won the 2026 award for Most Promising Off-the-Shelf Therapy Pipeline in the Asia Pacific region.
The award, presented at the Asia-Pacific Cell and Gene Therapy Excellence Awards in Singapore on 30 June, recognises Magellan’s 17 years of exceptional clinical translational research in cell therapy, along with our outstanding and well-structured clinical and pre-clinical research.
The judges were highly impressed with Magellan’s multi-jurisdictional regulatory alignment, including our proactive consultation with regulators across the APAC region as well as in the US, EU and UK.
The awards committee praised Magellan’s extensive track record, proven manufacturing capabilities and commercial scale-up approach.
Dr Kiran Shah, MSc, PhD, Magellan’s Head Scientific Officer and Head of R&D, accepted the award on behalf of the whole Magellan team.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Shah highlighted how Magellan’s dedicated scientific and clinical team had worked with dedication and precision for more than a decade-and-a-half to make Magellan’s cell treatment for osteoarthritis a reality.
She outlined how Magellan is working to create an approved cell therapy product to help improve the lives of millions of osteoarthritis sufferers around the world.
Dr Shah thanked the IMAPAC Asia Pacific CGT Award committee, saying the Magellan team is honoured by the recognition, which has even further motivated the team in our development of an affordable and widely available osteoarthritis treatment.
Magellan has regulatory approval to operate a GMP Laboratory and the TGA has issued Magellan a licence to manufacture allogeneic (donor) mesenchymal stem cells for upcoming trials.
The award was presented to Dr Shah by Gavin Currie, CEO of Biosceptre International.
Magellan Stem Cells previously won the 2025 award.
